Hi all,

I am wondering how you guys manage spammers or spam on your site.

Lately I been having an issue with this (will give more info in a PM).

I would appreciate some advice on this.

The most effective way to stop spammers are moderators.
There are a few plugins which can help you too,

http://www.mybbcentral.com/thread-1670.html <- this is useful to disallow signatures until X amount of posts are made. Bots almost always place a link in their signature.

You can also create a group in which the first post must be moderated before they can continue posting. You can use the group promotion function to move these approved users into a new group which doesn't require post moderation.

I found the Security Question plugin worked best for stopping registrations. I had over 1500 spam accounts however if you like having a large number of users with 0 posts you can use other methods. The bots attacking my forum targeted the forum with I'd 1 and other lower ids. This forum was locked/non-existent which meant they couldn't post.
