I've been looking for this answer for several days and decided to go ahead and post. I'm new to this so bear with me.
I am just doing the installation of MyBB, and I am stuck at Requirement checks. I changed CHMOD on the config file, settings, cache with no problems
It wants me to do CHMOD 777 on the uploads directory and the avatars.
I do it the same way I did the others and when I click recheck, these still say Not Writable.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong here.
I use Cute ftp.
Can anyone help?

Does your server run Linux or Windows?? Some people have problems CHMOD'ing properly on Windows.

If it's not working via FTP, try using the host control panel's File Manager to CHMOD 777

I believe it's Linux, I'll try the control panel, thanks!

I contacted my host , they said I had an extra space before uploads, and they corrected it for me. yeah!
I will continue getting this forum going, wish me luck!
