Where can I download a language pack, like French? I have looked but can't find them on this site, thanks!

It looks like some of the translations haven't been updated. The Translations forum (link: http://community.mybb.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=21) might have some for 1.6.1.

I think there is no updated version for MyBB 1.6 , but here is 1.4.x version: http://community.mybb.com/thread-68351.html

So there are none for mybb 1.6.2?
