There is a plugin for this, I don't have the link though.

didn't work in mybb 1.6 though. i activated it and configured it by checking YES in Board Settings > Link to POST. but didn't work

The thread title was ' Hide Link ', but that doesn't even match the plugin, sorry.

I haven't used 'Lite (Archive) Mode' might want to check if it still works there too...
