The filezilla server simply allows you to setup an FTP server - nothing more, nothing less. This can be used internally on your network (as I do on my local file server) or externally as in the case of a webserver.

Basically any physical server is a machine that contains a server grade OS (Linux, UNIX, Windows Server, Mac Server), and has one or more server softwares (Webserver [Apache, lighttp, nginx, etc...], Database [MySQL, pgSQL, etc...], Mail [Postfix, sendmail, Exim, Dovecot, etc...], etc...)
