how can I make the Events that are posted in the calendar apear in a box on the portal page?
any idea?

I want the last 3 or 5 added events to apear in the box....something like "Latest threads"

Yes, it requires a plugin. there is no other way around to fetch Events from Calendar and display them on Portal page.
