i think someone is is DDOSing ur site...

if you using hostgator than its same, when i used to be there, i used to go sometime 21 and used to get message like "required more memory" or "needed some_no_here memory", Check your ip and see how many sites are running in same ip, but still you need to use less plugin atleast not those plugins which takes huge load like already said "prostats", otherwise your site will be slow.

finally on own server with lightttp i am on 0.8 server load , and some times other sites goes to 2.7 but never saw more than 3

I've disabled prostats already, that helped a lot. Could you tell me what else needs to be disabled?

Is that game section plugin to play flash games on your forum... if it is than that is also taking load.
and what is some welpulsive scanner... seems like load taking plugin {just a guess}

That scanner just scans the attachments for viruses, the game section is needed because it's a gaming forum, :o but you just click on the games tab.
