Just out of interest, do you think its better to bridge with Mediawiki or use the 1.4 MyBB Wiki plugin that is said to work with no issues on 1.6.

It's better to bridge MediaWiki and MyBB than use a plugin that could easily become unsupported. A bridge means both software is supported.
