With my host there is a limit of 300 mails per hour, how do I limit emails to this amount when sending out a mass mail to around 5,000 members

There are 2 components to limiting mass mailings, the per page setting, set when creating the mass mail and the time/interval between each send, set in the admincp >> Tools & Maintenance >> task manager >> Mass Mailing

With the default settings you should be well below that 300/hr limit.

At default settings, the mass mail task is set to run every 15 minutes (4 times every hour) and the mass mail defaults to 50 mails per page. Meaning every time the task is run it will send 50 mails, 50mails x 4times an hour = 200 mails in an hour.

If you want you could increase the per page setting to 70 (70x4=280mails/hr) but keep in mind that in addition to the mass mail your board will be sending out other emails too like thread subscriptions, new registrations, pm notifications and so on so better to keep a buffer.
