I cannot get to the page to install... I edited the files as told on the website, but then I get the following error,

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/13/d237121170/htdocs/freshink/forum/inc/class_error.php on line 51

Not sure what to do..

No, You don't have to edit any file. Just Upload and Run the Installer. You need to CHMOD some files/folders but not have to edit any thing.

You ONLY do that if your host is using MySQL 4.

No, you only need to do this edit when you are using MySQL 4.0.

The problem here is, that MyBB requires PHP 5.1 or later and you have PHP 4.

How do I get that? i downloaded the latest version from the site.

Your host needs to upgrade your PHP version.
