at present, I have no logo in my forum homepage.I wish To add one. how can I do that???? which format it should be???

Go to: ACP > Themes > Your theme > Edit > and add Logo Image URL in Board Logo option field.
so I have to upload the logo in my server first through ftp????? Or I can just upload the logo in photobucket and add the links in 'Board Logo' ???
You can do it via photobucket, yes.
Its a matter of choice. But I would suggest to Upload it to ./images/ folder of your MyBB forum and then add its location in the field. Like if your logo name is logo.png then Image URL Path will be like;
images/logo.png
