Hi there!

I was just doing an upgrade from 1.4.4 to 1.6 and followed the instructions carefully. When I went here:

I found it was locked and did as told - deleted the lock file inside the installer directory. However the problem still persists. After I removed the file I still get the same error message. Can anyone please help me work out this issue?

I can't find it anywhere though.... Could it be called something else? We had an IT person doing the upgrade for us last time. Can he have put in a lock file somewhere... Any other place common than just the default lock file?

The lock file is in the /install/ folder within your MyBB installation. It's not stored anywhere else. Find it and delete it.

Your site is not loading for me.

It was before, probably just a temporary host issue.

I am re-doing it now...the file wasn't where it should be at least so found this to hopefully be the best option to fix it Will let you know...

The site loads fine for me, the lock file is deffinantly still there as if i go to the files location

it loads the file, if the file had been deleted it should throw a 404.
If you wanted to pm me some ftp details i could have a look into it for you.

fixed you should now be able to upgrade.
I just tried to run the upgrader and it asking me to login so you should be good to go.
