Full Version: If possible, to send manual email with ACP from forum admin to new users ?

Would like to send manually, if possible, an email from forum admin email address to certain (not all, and not with EV) new users email address/s, via ACP, welcoming them and asking them to reply (or be deleted).

So far, havent been able to figure out how to do that from the ACP.
Suggestion/s ?

Thank you for the reply and suggestion.
Think may be asking the impossible, ie trying to send an email (not a PM) from a web server (hosting a forum) instead of a mail server ?
Obviously am not very IT savvy, and just 'stabbing in the dark', so hope that doesnt confuse the question ?

Oh I'm sorry. Unfortunately I won't be able to help you with this :/
You can use Mass Mail to do this.

Admincp >> Users & Groups >> Mass Mails

Enter the title and content of the email and on the next page you can choose criteria of which users to send the mass mail to.
If the users you want to send the mass mail to do not have anything in common such that you can not use the options on the criteria page then you can create a new group and add the users you want to send the mail to that group (as a secondary group for the users) then select to send the mass mail to that group.

Thank you, looks good !
Sorry, dont know how missed that one.
Also, thank you for the 'group' workaround !
Couple questions...
1. couldnt figure out how to see who the email is actually being emailed to, in the saved queue etc, any way to display the individual and/or list if multiple addressees ?
2. checked 'send immediately', but it saved in queue for 'delivery date' = 'today', any way to actually send immediately, or if only 'today', how long is the normal wait ?
3. best/any way to save a 'draft' copy for future repetitive, but not scheduled, use ?
1. While there is no real-time log of who the mass-mail is being sent to, you can however see the number of recipients and a log of any failed emails in the system email log

2. The mass mail is queued and the mass mail task is used to send 50 mails at a time every 15 minutes by default. You can change these send rates by changing the per page value when creating the mass mail, this will change the number of mails sent everytime the task is ran and changing how often the task is ran in Tools & Maintenance >> Task Manager >> Mass Mail.
The reason all the emails are not sent immediately at once is to reduce a congestion of the bandwidth by your website trying to send so many emails.

3. To save as a draft and not send the mass mail, only complete the first page of the mass mail and click on Next Step, if you now go back to the main page of the mas mail you'll see it is saved as draft.

Thank you for the followup and the info !
Side question... is there a way any of this kind of detail info gets put into a 'wiki' item, or maybe is already there, and we should be getting it there ?
Have taken a look at the mybb/wiki, but dont remember seeing this kind of detail, and a little confused about how the wiki works (ie as far as editing etc).
But, if there was a way for users to contribute, ie like adding this thread info to an item, I would be glad to try and help.
Thanks again.
