Is it possible to ban people from accessing the site via proxy?

I've IP banned one or two and they're just coming back by using proxy sites.
I know someone who made a Proxy Killer plugin, I'll ask him when he comes onto MSN if you can get it.

It cannot be redistributed however.
Hi Yaldaram,

Althought the above does work, it blocks many people that aren't using proxys from outside countries such as israel and some even in germany.

Any ideas?
Deactivate it. Instead of this, you may Install labrocca's plugin: http://www.mybbcentral.com/thread-1658.html
http://www.wizcrafts.net/exploited-serve...klist.html

This block enormous amounts of proxies from your site. Also other servers with bad stuff on it. Legitimate traffic is coming from ISPs, not from webhosts.

So why promote your useless plugin at all? Rolleyes

@Disturbed: That looks quite good, if only that could be made a plugin. Sad

Because it works on some environments. Shy

Maybe cause it isn't useless?

It uses an interesting idea that works without a blacklist, but it has quite a number of issues on the other hand (it being somewhat aggressive). I personally wouldn't recommend it since it doesn't cache lookups and I don't particularly like servers making outgoing requests to clients, not to mention that a webserver running on the client doesn't necessarily indicate a proxy, but I wouldn't call it useless.
