You will need to activate the Akismet which can be done by following these steps:
Activate the Akismet plugin from the plugin list, you should have it cause it comes with the installation.
Then go to:
ACP > Configuration > Settings > Akismet. Then follow these steps:
Akismet Main Switch should be ON
Get the Akismet key from http://wordpress.com/api-keys/.
Enter your key and then change this "Spam messages until ban". BNy default its three but you can change it to 1 or 2 or 4.
That basically means that if a person posts links like 3 times or 1 time according to your spam messages until ban, he will be autmatically banned by the system.

This might come in handy: http://spam-ip.com/how-to-block-forum-spam.php
Also, There is one way that I did and it might take a little time but you can do it this way:
Go here:
ACP > Configuration > Banning.
From there, enter all the spam bot ips that has registered in your forums so far and block them. Disallowing email address won't work cause they will just create a new email address thus, you will need to ban them from there ip address. Then they will not be able to register. Also, reduce your registration to 1 per account.
ACP > Configuration > User Registrations & Profile Option > Maximum Registrations Per IP Address :
Change that to 1.
Then find this: Time Between Registrations. Change that to like 1000000 meaning they will be have to wait that many house before registering a second account. That should reduce your spam bots.
As for preventing them from the site, there is no current way to tell because that would need a plugin
