Is this running on a windows server? and does your ftp account have permission to change CHMODs of Files/Folders?

It's possible to use another uploads folder after you have installed MyBB, but not before the installation. Admin CP --> Settings --> Server and Optimization Options --> Uploads Path.

Do you mean don't upload the "uploads" folder that comes with the installation? Or, upload it in the root directory and use: Admin CP --> Settings --> Server and Optimization Options --> Uploads Path, to link to it?

I'm not sure if I follow you Dennis, if you could tell me exactly what I need to do, because I want to convert my two other forums (now using SMF) installs to myBB, so I really will be following your instructions closely.
