There is already a plugin to limit the number of private messages per day.

But can someone make a plugin where i can edit the max. number of messages in a users inbox?

also, it would be great if i could edit the number for each specific user

ACP > Users and Groups > Groups > Edit your desired group > and under "Users and Permissions Tab" add your desired number to allow them to store in their inbox/sent items box in "Message Quota::" options field.
