Backing up your database using phpMyAdmin
Login to phpMyAdmin and select the database you wish to dump.
Click on the "Export" tab at the top of the page.
Click "Select All" below the list of tables.
Make the format is SQL.
Click "Save as File" to download the result, or leave this box unticked to view it on-screen.
Ensure that both "Structure" and "Data" are ticked.
Choose a compression type, if any, from the bottom of the form.
Click "Go".

Well, the very easy way is,
> Go to your Cpanel
> Click on Backups
> Download Home Directory & SQL of your database
> Go to your Cpanel
> Click on Backups
> Download Home Directory & SQL of your database

thanks. i did download the sql and the backup_c*********
is there a diference when you upload it back in diferent url?
say i have a domain.com/forum
and now i want it to be in forums.domain.com
is the process still the same and will create a bug?

You can use the same database, but you'll need to adjust your cookie settings after importing the database. Use this generator to find out what you should put there:
