Hello,

I'm installing MyBB for a friend of mine that has been using Yahoo boards, and I would like to know if there is a mod that could read the posts to transfer them to MyBB, because there are like 800 messages, and it would be nice if they could be transfered.

Thanks.
Yahoo Board? I've never heard of it. Do you have a link to a download page to this 'Yahoo Board'?
Tiki, I believe he's referring to the crude message board system used in Yahoo Groups.
Ok, but is its source available? If its not then I'm afraid there's no way anyone could make a converter to transfer those messages
If you can't get a copy of the data of the board (SQL or XML or etc), then it's not possible (or it would be very tedious).
I must aggree that it's suckie.

OK, so I would have to try to get the MySQL database? There is no way that it could capture the posts from the page, and add them to the MYBB forum? Because I'm not sure that they will do that. Sad

@Tikitiki
The sorce isn't avaliabe, but here is the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/

Well, I think it would be possible to make a screen-scraping script to get all the posts, and then import them into MyBB, but it wouldn't be easy. Yahoo Groups and MyBB have some significant differences in the way they work. [Image: xso_undecided.gif]

I found this Perl script that can retrieve all the messages from a Yahoo Group and store them in an MBOX file, which is interesting, though not very useful: http://www.tt-solutions.com/en/products/yahoo2mbox/
Apparently it's possible to convert Yahoo Groups to vB

If you could do that, you could then convert the vB to phpBB and then phpBB to MyBB. Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of chances for something to go wrong though.

That would be with the utility that WDZ posted to make it into that "unix mail file".

You would need a vB license to get ImpEx (their import/export utility) from vB, so that route will not work for most people.

Unless we find someone on here who is switching from vb to MyBB and can get it...*crafty dealings*
