that should work as it has no code specific for earlier myBB versions.
that modification download has a 'mp3' folder which consists of a swf
file and javascript file. that mp3 folder needs to be uploaded to the
root directory of the forum. AND a new mycode needs to added so that
it can be used at the forum topics / posts
It's just a MyCode plugin so it will work just fine in MyBB 1.6
