How PHP forum works??

I have downloaded a forum. What is my next step??
How can I edit it?
Can I preview file without a server???

I worked with asp , html,, only. i dont know php..

You certainly need a server to run and execute php file, unless they are just files that you look at their codes.

Your server should support php, and to run MyBB you also need a MySQL Data Base.
