Hi

I installed the Google SEO plugin 1.1.13 version a last week and I have just generated a sitemap and uploaded it to Google Webmaster tools who say I have 1243 broken links all on the forum. This is obviously a worry

I am on MyBB version 1.6.3

My url is http://danthegardener.com/forum

It say beside the plugin 404, Meta, Redirect, Sitemap and URL are enabled.

Can anyway help me to fix this pleaseConfused

I have the list of broken links if you can PM me as it will not allow me to attached the file

Thanks in advance

Kathy
you have to edit htaccess.txt file to .htaccess which is found in root
Hi

I have just had a look in the cpanel in public_html then under forum folder and found the .htaccess.txt file. It is already called htaccess.txt

Thnaks

Kathy
^ that htaccess.txt needs to be renamed to .htaccess (note a dot before file name)
Hi

Hi

So remove the .txt at the end?

Do I need to put anything in the .htaccess file?

Do I then generate another sitemap and hopefully all will be ok

Thanks

Kathy
open that htaccess.txt - do you find some rules like lines ?
if so just rename that to .htaccess AND it should fix all links

I don't think you have to generate the sitemap - if required also do it !!
Hi

I have renamed the file to htaccess it will not allow me to rename to .htaccess but will give it a whirl and see it if corrects things

Many thanks for your help

Kathy
You HAVE TO rename it to ".htaccess", any other name will NOT work.

Use notepad++ to do so. Save As -> ".htaccess" with quotation marks.
delete .htaccess and the issue should be resolved.
GHi

I have renamed it ".htaccess"

Thanks

Kathy
Hi

I have generated another sitemap but still giving me 1221 broken links

I have checke and the file is called ".htaccess"

/public_html/forum/".htaccess"

Have I done somethiong wrong?

Kathy
Hi

I have now tried to save the ".htaccess" as all files and re-uploaded it which it says has been done but I can not see it. Is this because I have saved it as all files rather than a text file? It seems to be hidden but I do not know where?

Have generated sitemap again but still giving 1245 broken links

Could I have the settings in the SEO plugin wrong?
