While figuring out why the MOD search was broken, I noticed that MOD pages don't display which version of MyBB they support.
This creates the impression that the MOD search doesn't find MODs, because if you search using Google, you're able to find mods that the MOD search doesn't return. Try a MOD search for "tag", then the Google search.
