are you checking the version of your myBB installation files ? if so, above reference should help.
OR if we have mistaken with your query, could you elaborate it ..

thanks for your the help but i don't think i can fix it and yes i installed everything fine i doubled checked to make sure

Contact your host, ask them if they allow PHP to fetch files from other sites remotely, this will tell us what the problem is.
