Just go into the ACP and promote the user. Also, in the future it may be better to contact CreateMybb, as some issues may be issues that only they can fix.

CreateBB sets up MyBB differently than a standard MyBB install, so we do not support it.

A lot of the time we'd suggest something that you wouldn't be able to do (something with files, database etc), there's other restrictions and limitations, and things may be broken because of how it's set up that we don't know about.
