Can someone point me to an updated guide on how to transfer a myBB forum to a new webhost? Is it possible to do so without remembering the username and password I set up for the mysql database?

The old and new is same thing. Read the tutorial in the tutorial section.
Quick steps:
- Change the nameserver of your domain.
- Do a backup for each. [ Home Directory and MySQL ].
- Download the backup.
- In your new webhost , go to Backup Wizard , and do each backup.
- Remake the MySQL Database Users and attach it to your database.
- Done.
