I have 1.6.8 version and this code don't work! In the registration form, the default option is still "do not subscribe"

In MyBB 1.8.x, this no longer works, because these options have been removed from the registration dialog.

The options are there on registration - I just checked on the MyBB site.

I'm running 1.6.3 (1603) version but I can't see the >>member_register under my Themes thus quotes <select name="subscriptionmethod" id="subscriptionmethod"> are not available.

I have already registered users and just need as set Default everyone "Subscribe and receive email notification of new replies and new threads?
