How different will the plugins system be in 2.0? Will we have to dramatically re-code our plugins to make them compatible? Or will the plugin system be similar?
Il hope they don't get redesigned
Labrocca haven't remade anyone from 1.4 yet, imagine how will be for 2.0

*shugrs*
Considering 2.0 will be redesigned from the ground up, it is quite likely every plugin will have to be re-written from the ground up as well.
MyBB 2.0 is a complete re-write. No plugins from older versions will work, at all. You'll have to code them completely from scratch. It's not just a matter of changing the compatibility line.
They'd also be in a different format / file type, wouldn't they? Since MyBB is using Yii for 2.0?
I'm pretty sure the file type will always be dot php Toungue
Ah Big Grin My bad, well, yeah Big Grin
But yes, bottom line, it's not gonna be very simple to convert the plugins.
Things will be completely different as Dylan said thanks to the use of Yii and a MVC structure meaning plugins will be nothing like the current ones.
MyBB 1.x = flat files.
MyBB 2.x = MVC.

Code = completely different. Structure = completely different.

We'll make it as easy as we can to write plugins (you're not going to have to be a PHP wizard to write them) but there will be changes to how it's done.
