So I want my buy my first ever domain but I really have no idea what I am doing.
I can buy a domain name but where do I get hosting? Is there a site that offers both the name and hosting?
If you have a gtalk/aim and can walk me through and answer my questions it would be greatly appreciated. I am really lost.

Couldn't you have just Google'd 'buy a domain name' and 'web hosting'?

If you receive a free domain with the hosting, I recommend registering just a personal one or w/e, then add the domain you intended to buy as a secondary. Just personal preference. Also, google for more infos. Quicker and easier to be quite frank.

What does that have to do with anything? Prior to now I have always stuck with free hosts and forums because I never had the paypal account or funds to buy anything. Everyone has to start somewhere...

Okay, doing so does not help me what so ever in figuring out, for example, how to link hosting to a domain, what a nameserver is, etc. It is much easier to ask someone along the way.

I bought a domain from name.com and am using a free host for now because I don't want to put a lot of money into this site, just yet.
Name.com offers decent shared hosting.
