I planned to use mybb forum. mybb forum is 7 mb in size now.
My hosting service provides 250mb web space.

My doubt:

if the number of users and posts increase to thousand range in my forum, will it affect my web space? do i need more space for feature use.

users and posts will be stored in the database, and my forum with over 14,000 posts and almost 500 users has a 13.25 MB database.

Good number is 100mb for every 100,000 posts

Just as he states 14k posts and he's using almost 14 MB which is right inline with that. With 250MB you should be able to do 200k posts or more But at that point your issue might be resources like CPU or MySQL.

Web space is normally not an issue unless you're attachment heavy website.
