I was adding like button and +1 button to the showthread template manually, but when I add both of them, they come up like this.

You can either use floats or set them to display: inline-block. Both are CSS techniques.
I figured this out.. I was using FB Like plugin for the FB like button and I think the plugin hook is not willing to keep more buttons with it in the same line :p
I disabled the plugin and used standard code. Its OK now.
