I have MyBB 1.6.3 and this error message:

[READ] Unable to connect to MySQL server
What can I do? I read that the server from MySQL is down?!
The error message is pretty self explanatory. Double check that your database is up and running and that the settings are correct in inc/config.php
Other than that you have to check with your host which is more probably the issue considering its a free host.

if server OR mysql is down then you need to contact your webhost !!
if it is a new installation / moved installation then check configuration settings in ./inc/config.php
At the moment I cannot connect with the server.
I don't know the web host because I am admin for 5 days and the other admin is in holiday.
Probably you don't need to do anything because the host should noticed that the MySQL server is down.

By now you should have received an e-mail from your server.
The other admin would get the e-mail.
