Hello,

I know that small forums (who are barely visited) don't need this feature, but big forums do need this, actually, I want to disable the registration on my forums, but I want to give the members the ability to send invitations to their friends in order to join (kinda referral system), so only referred people will be able to register on the forum, I hope y'all got it:

Like:

Board registration is closed now!

MemberA can send 10 invitations per day, MemberA sends an invitation to his friend, his friend opens the mail and follows the URL in it, he registers as MemberB, and guests still cannot register!

I think everyone who has a big forum and has already closed registration for a while, experiensed such demands from members who want their friends to join...

Thoughts?

I'm going to say a plugin. And, also say the biggest forums have open registration still.

I don't think this is a bad idea, but not very many people will be using it so it would be better suited as a plugin.

It's very good idea if you want to create forum for your friends or like-minded people.
I hope someone will make a plugin for this.

Actually I think it is something I'd like to see in core.

There is already a plugin for invite only MyBB 1.6.x forums coded. You can use it
