Hello everyone, I just want to ask a stupid question.
I just made MyBB forums and I want to know how to connect to a server and use FileZilla.
How do I install plugins? I'm brand new to MyBB and have no clue where to begin. I wanted to add a shoutbox (already downloaded). I cannot find the program everyone uses (server?). If someone could help me out with the basics it would be very much appreciated.
I have a feeling you didn't install MyBB on your own. Where did you create your forum?
I made them on mybb.createmybb3.com or something...
Just as I thought. You can't install plugins by yourself in CreateMyBB. You need to create a request in their support forum and wait for it to be installed. But you can forget about that because their support forum is pretty much dead and the staff rarely visits the forum.
What you need to do, if you really want to install plugins, is get a
web host and install MyBB on the server. Instructions on how to install MyBB are available on the Wiki. There's also a really good video by Tom K. which should be pretty easy to follow:

What if I make new forums?
A new forum on CreateMyBB? No, that's not gonna help. Like I said, you need to create a new forum on your own server. Reference to my post above for instructions.
How do I link my forum with the webhost? I chose x10Hosting and created an account.
You can't "link" your forum with a web host. You have to start over. Forget about your forum at CreateMyBB. You could transfer it, but unfortunately CreateMyBB doesn't give you database access.
