It will not work fine on lesser versions, it is only ready for mybb 1.8.21 and major versions.

Changes to add customized button to mybb sceditor auto for 1.8.9 and 1.8.10 series... ( but should work in all 1.8.x series )
Tested in all 1.8.x versions, but 1.6.x have to work either on mycode, button only works on 1.8.x series of mybb...
