I have a db created with data in it and want to install mybb and make it use that db

how do i do

from which MyBB version you have the database ? do you also have the files backup ?

we are upgrading to 1.8 and the old mybb version was 1.6 and we have the .sql of the db

if you have files backup then reupload the files and import database. connect the database through config.php file
then you should be able to upgrade.

if you do not have files backup, do you remember disabling the plugins before taking database backup ?
