How do I send a welcome message to new members when they register on my forum?

I assume by PM/Email, if so, you just need that plugin.

You might have to change the compatibility from 14* to 16*

Is there any way I can modify this to have it sent from MyBB Engine? And if so can you show me how?

I'm not sure about that, but there is a "PM Sender User ID" field in the configuration, so you can create some sort of "Welcome" account/bot, where it sends all the notices. You should "Disable" the PM of this account, so no one can reply to them.

Or simply deliver the mail yourself, don't forget to ring twice .
