Making a forum/catagory private

Ok so I have my catagories and forums permissions set so guests and normal users can't view them however if they type in the root directory into the url the catagory/forums will come up. Does anyone know how to fix this

Well view means access. (In this case) You'd need a plugin to do what you're describing.

so to prevent them from accessing it from the url I'd need a plugin, do you know of any?

If the user doesn't have permission to view, they shouldn't be able to access that forum via the URL... is there any chance the users who can access the private forum have an additional group (that has permission to access the forum) set?

Is that the permissions for the forum, or the category...??
