on the main page, sub boards are separated with a comma I want to get rid of that though, how can I do that?

Template edit. Unsure exact template but just check in admincp.

In forumbit_depth3, remove {comma} and that will do it!

Its in "forumbit_depth3" template, find the following and remove;
{$comma}
