Thanks.

For new installs, do you have to edit functions.php like in the earlier version? The doc doesn't say anything about this.

I've installed and activated the plugin, used the example htaccess file and I get the error as others before me, the url is:

forum-7.html

It is mentioned in the documentation. You don't have to edit yourself but use the Apply / Revert controls shown in the plugin status (it will only be shown when you actually have to perform edits - it mainly depends on whether or not URL is enabled).

Quoting from the docs:

Quote:If you are updating from Google SEO Legacy or Google SEO 1.1.13 or older, you have to undo any modifications made to inc/functions.php prior to updating the plugin. Please obtain the original, unmodified inc/functions.php directly from the MyBB downloads page or MyBB Wiki.

If you were using the Patches plugin to modify inc/functions.php, please deactivate / remove the Google SEO related Patches.

Quote:When installed and activated, Google SEO will display a plugin status on the Admin CP -> Plugins page. The status gives an overview of which of the plugin's features are enabled or disabled. It will also warn you about known issues and tell you when you have to make changes, such as adding Rewrite Rules or applying or reverting changes to core files.

Is there a recommended url length?

Also, i get this error:
Code:
Board URL is set to 'http://site.com/forum', but you currently seem to be on 'http://site.com/forum/admin-dir/?module=config-plugins'. A wrong Board URL setting may cause problems with Redirect.

I think the url is right.

RE: Google SEO 1.6.0 - frostschutz - 08-12-2011

Your admin_dir setting in inc/config.php is probably not correct then (should be 'admin_dir' not 'admin_dir/' or 'admin' if admin is not the name of your dir). Or it's because index.php is missing from that path. The warning message currently relies on both. If the URL is correct and there aren't any problems you can just ignore the warning.
