Excuse me for being a bit simple

but i have installed this mod and put the text that was given into the htaccess file but it still shows as it needs to be put into the file under the plugin and when i try to view a post and get error 404

Any help please? im not very technical with these forums and the answer maybe in here somewhere but i have just completely read this section from page 1 to 62 and now im more confused than when i started Sad

It only shows that when it's not in the file. So maybe you put it into a wrong file or forgot to reupload the file after editing it locally. Just in case, the file is in the same directory MyBB itself is in (same directory as showthread.php forumdisplay.php etc.), and it's called .htaccess, not htaccess nor htaccess.txt. Also you should edit it using Notepad++ or similar - do not use Microsoft Notepad or Wordpad as those may break files.

So a thread or forum or category that hasn't been viewed since the change, will still show the old URL.

Also there is an additional URL cache for index/portal (by default, configurable) so it might show old URLs for a while longer there.

I tried accessing them a few times though but I still got the error :p I guess it was to do with the cache. Anyway that's fixed now Smile

But, I have a new problem that I think is related to Google SEO;

http://community.mybb.com/thread-128037.html

Quote:I've just been told that by someone that when he tries to activate his registration he gets this error;

Quote:The webpage at http://www.nintendolounge.com/member.php?action=activate&uid=132&google_seo=vwo2+++++++&code=**edit** has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

That was in Chrome, but he tried in in IE too and got "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

See how for some reason "google_seo" and some other code is added to the URL Huh

-----

Fixed it. I had Google SEO setting on "Lazy mode" (changed it the other day while trying to fix the previous error). Changing it to full mode fixed it Smile

Lazy mode shouldn't be causing redirect issues, though. If it does, it's a bug.

Is that a question? If not, then the URL does not work.
