Not writable files, - Blu-Ray - 2013-09-28

Also when I try to to change the permissions, It says command not understood in my FTP client.

are you using ftp client like filezilla ? if file permissions are not changing through the client
then you have to try it through the files manager available at web host control panel.
if still there is a problem then contact your web host
