i think you should change the home link at the top to go to the portal and add a forum or board link at the top for the board or forum

I don't like the portal link as some may choose not to use a portal but I definitely agree with the home page link concept. it's a standar option with most popular forum softwares indeed. Most folks do not look at the bottom for a link back to homepage like on here.
