I wouldn't set this to all users. This setting is enabled by default for all users (it's a MyBB setting, not plugin setting). If someone have disabled it, it was the choice of this user and should respect by admin.

But if you want to set it anyway:

Go to phpMyAdmin (or some other db-tool) and try the following sql queries:

UPDATE `mybb_users` SET `pmnotice` = '1' WHERE `mybb_users`.`unreadpms` = 0;
UPDATE `mybb_users` SET `pmnotice` = '2' WHERE `mybb_users`.`unreadpms` > 0;

Update: Plugin licence changed to GPL and footer link completely removed (try version 1.8 or above)! Smile

Awsome! Thanks so much! You got some nice plugins.
Is that the one on the plugin download page? Cause it says it was last updated Dec 4th, not the 9th which was your last post above.

RE: Ajax PM Notification - querschlaeger - 2009-12-11

Dec 4th is correct: http://mods.mybboard.net/view/ajax-pm-notification

I just wrote this post some days later. Wink

Nice, I'm going to use this myself someday. This works just like I want, and even better you removed the copyright. Thank you so much.

Oh Okay. Hey one question. I installed and activated the plug-in, yet I never see the "pop up" other than the standard board notification. Am I missing something?

Hi,
Why do not work this plugin in some themes?

RE: Ajax PM Notification - xiofire - 2010-01-31

Assuming your using setInterval(); to fire a function to reload a page that checks for PM's, are you sure you want to run an SQL query every 10 seconds? Also, wouldn't this use quite a bit of bandwidth?

Say you have 100 members online, all reloading the page and running a query every 10 seconds, you're looking at at least 100 SQL queries in 10 seconds and depending on file size, some bandwidth.

I do something simular on my site, but I don't fire the setInterval function for five minutes. After that, it checks every minute.

Don't take this as an attack but it's something you should think about.

Don't know. It should be theme insensitive. Can you give me a download link to a non compatible theme so I can test it.

The plugin itselfs don't make any db query. It checks only if $mybb->user['pmnotice'] > 0
I see MyBB do a query to set this value but I don't know a way doing an Ajax PM check without it. If you have any idea let me know. Smile
