Facebook Connect, Twitter, & OpenID logins. - edjca - 2009-11-26
I know it's not just me that thinks this. If MyBB had a plugin that allowed for people to post through facebook, twitter, or openid MyBB would get alot more popular. I haven't seen any other forum software do this so I don't know how easy it would be but has anyone looked into this?

I've been developing Facebook Connect for MyBB over the past few months, and will be released shortly. It allows users to sign in/register with their Facebook logins.
As for functionality, it's pretty difficult for the end user (as in, you), to setup a Facebook Application to post to someone's wall. There's lots of things that can go wrong, and in the end it isn't worth the hassle. I haven't fully explored it, but not even IPB3 goes this far.
As for Twitter and OpenID, I haven't heard anyone else doing it.

I remember someone a whiles back saying they attempted and failed trying to do OpenID. Though maybe they should be the ones to make the ports?

I've just looked at the OpenID libraries for PHP.
I'll be sticking with Facebook.
