Be careful because ads in the post are against the TOS of google. You can't trick users into believing ads are site content. Just be careful how you place them.

And from what you describe as ads in the header...that's the header template inside the admincp you can edit it and manually place your ad.

I made this small plugin just to insert "something" into posts.
But you have right about TOS.
I will change the name of plugin into "Inside Posts".
