First, take care that your host is probably *nix one, so case-sensitive. Check if the directory you created is Forum or forum, the capital is important - Checked and Confirmed!
Second: in the Upload directory of MyBB, I don't think there is any useless file. All must be uploaded. - Yes, this is what I did. Not sure why the documentation page suggests doing so could be problematic
Third and last: check that you have uploaded the content of the Upload directory in four forum directory, and not hace uploaded the directory (and created a nex subdirectory).........
This last part has me curious as I'm confident I did it correctly but will double check now...
Here's what I see:
Nixihost root directory with all files and folders visible does not have a forum directory of it's own, just the one I created. And this is where I've moved every folder and file that was included in the Uploads folder I downloaded from MyBB. I could only transfer files, not folders, so was forced to create every single folder and subfolder manually before moving files into them. I've double checked every folder for spelling and upper vs. lower case and it's identical
Perhaps you'll see something in the screenshot that explains what I've done wrong if anything?
According to ChatGPT, there's another step that involves Creating a Database that's required before accessing the installer. Curious why there's no mention of this in the documentation but I do see that my control panel has a section for managing databases so I'm looking around there now with GPT holding my hand haha
SOLVED!!!
As visible in my screenshot, I had placed the forums directory in the root directory provided by NixiHost
By picking ChatGPT's brain for 20 minutes, I realized that their folder tree has a folder called public_html which is where everything belongs.
Moved the forum folder into that folder, refreshed my page and boom! Prompted to install!
Thanks for giving me a place to think this through. I'll mark the thread as solved and most likely be back with more questions later.
