Even it would take a while or couple of months for you to think to upgrade to 1.8x even it consists some small to major changes, so 2.0 is way far away.
2.0 is going to be a complete rewrite with a framework as base while ensuring that already 1.x running boards can also upgrade to it.
It takes a heavy lot of time, and you should respect with what information you have now, in the hand. Meanwhile they're doing their best by updating about 1.8.
