Not Solved anti-cheating in the GameSection

Hi.

I am new in this forum, so I am not sure if I put this thread in the correct section.

I have trouble with some guys that are cheating in the GameSection. I am aware of the situation but I can't prove it.

I would like to introduce a new table in the database to store the starting time of a game (when the flash game has been launched) and the end time (when the score is stored). When I take a look at the time-difference I could estimate if the score is reasonable.

I know that this table might grow very fast.

I am quite skilled concerning MYSQL and scripting and programming (C, Perl, shell) but I am a beginner in the PHP area. I am using MYBB 1.6.4, PHP 5.3.0, MySQL 5.1, GameSection 1.2.

My question:

Can someone of you tell me where I have to put the insert - statements?

Any help is very appreciated.

Regards.

Michael

One reason why I didn't like linking the games section to a points system is because how easy it is to cheat.
Whilst your timing suggestion would "thwart" obvious cheaters, anyone with a bit of intelligence can get around it by submitting the results a realistic time after initiating the game unfortunately.

Do you have some other suggestion?

Maybe a completly different solution?

Is it possible to run the game on the MYBB-server? In this case it would not be possible to cheat on the client side.

Regards.
