I have some javascript that I know is working that shortens to character output of the 'active' class.

I added the onload to the <body> tag and I tried putting the javascript just above that and in the header include but neither worked.

Am I missing something very obvious?


I have only tested this on a normal webpage.

Not worry. I didn't think this through when making this.

I was trying to limit the active span to only 33 characters but then I realized it won't solve my problem because I specifically need to shorten the output of only the thread title and since the active changes I can't do it like that.
